STRUCTURE FIRE - SHERATON HOTEL

This evening, shortly before 1700, crews were dispatched to the Sheraton Hotel in the 456 Box Area for a reported smoke condition on the 6th Floor. Chief 91 (Ibberson) went enroute and was advised of multiple calls reporting smoke filling the 6th Floor and a confirmed fire in a room. Chief 91 upgraded the box to the 2nd Alarm due to a large conference being held at the facility during this week. Truck 91 (LT Marzen) & Rescue 91 (FF Oliver) arrived as the first due apparatus' and began to make way to the 6th floor, upon making the floor, crews encountered heavy smoke and made entry to the room of origin to find a fire in the light fixture in the ceiling. Engine 91 arrived as the 2nd due Engine Company. A pressurized water can was used to knock down the fire and minor overhaul took place and advised command to hold the units on the scene. Truck 32 (Progress) handled ventilation. Crews operated for around 1 hour.
