SMOKE IN A BUILDING & TRAINING |
| Wed, Jan 20th, 2010 5:00:00 pm -
This evening shortly before training was to begin, County Communications dispatched Box Alarm 456-2 for the Structure Fire, reported Smoke in a Buiding, in the 5000 Blk. of Stacy Dr. East (Aspen Hill Apartments). The Engine and Rescue/Engine were both due on the Box. E49 (Chief Bradnick) responded shortly after dispatch w/ a crew of (4). While enroute, County gave the update of a possible oven fire. The Rescue/Engine responded minutes later with the remainder of the crew. E49 & Trk456 arrived together on Side A, with the Engine having a hydrant. E49 personnel were met by Swatara P.D. reporting the fire to be out, with "alot" of smoke in the building. 49 personnel made entry into the apartment, with a moderate smoke condition in the common area, and apartment. 49 & 456 crews found culinary negligence in the broiler portion of the oven unit. Crews extinguished the smoldering fire, and removed the broiler to the patio. Ventilation was set up by the truck, and with no further services needed, Co. 49 was placed in service.
Upon returning to quarters to regroup, the weekly training began. This weeks topic was "Hydrant Connections, and Supply Line Ops". Crews loaded up in the Engine and Rescue/Engine and headed to the Tecport Business Park to work on Hydrant Connections, and 5" hose lays (Forward/Reverse/Split). |
