STAYING BUSY IN THE FIRST DUE--WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE |
| Thu, Jun 3rd, 2010 10:15:00 am -
In the early morning hours, just before 02:00, County dispatched Box 49-3 for reported smoke in the structure, in the 200 Blk. of S. Hbg. St. Capt. 49 (B. Hoyer) went enroute, and while enroute was advised that P.D. was on scene with a Working Fire. Capt. 49 & C49 (Bradnick) arrived on scene. Capt. 49 requested R88 be added to the box for RIT, and confirmed the report from P.D., finding a 2 1/2 story duplex with heavy smoke from the attic. C49 took Command w/ Capt. 49 taking Operations. E49 arrived on scene, and began a forward lay from the hydrant @ S. Hbg. & High Sts., with E41 picking up the hydrant. Crews from 49 & 41 pulled (2) lines off of E49 and to advance into the structures. The original dispatched addressed turned out to be the exposure building, as the fire was located in the adjoining residence. L50 took a position on Side A and went in service with the aerial, and L456 took Side C and laddered the rear of the building with ground ladders. A 2nd alarm was struck for additional manpower.
(2) FF's were transported to the hospital with dehydration and heat related illnesses, and both were treated and released before the incident was terminated.
Crews were out for approx. 3.5 hours, and the Red Cross was requested for the displaced residents.
Thanks to our transfer company, Creekside (CC Co. 21) for assisting us with cleanup upon returning to station. |
