Engine Runs Vehicle Fire
August 27, 2019

This evening, the Engine Company was enroute to training in the 45 Box Area, the crew noticed a large column from 40th Street in the area of the Eisenhower Blvd corridor. As the engine was making its way, County sent the Vehicle Fire assignment to the 900 block of Eisenhower. Engine 91 & Chief 91-4 (BC Allen) arrived within 1 minute and deployed the bumper line to a tar buggy and pickup on fire. Due to leaking materials, a second handline and multiple dry chemical extinguishers were used to control the incident. Due to leaking diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid and liquid tar, the Hazmat Duty Officer was contacted and responded. Units from Rescue 91-5 and Utility 91-3 handled controlling the leaking fluids. The assignment was held to the Hazmat Team and Swatara Units cleared.
